The Sugarcane Production Manual is available in English or siSwati for R50. Both versions are in full colour.
The manuals are comprehensive and cover all the resources needed to grow cane (e.g. climate, soils, water, labor, transport, equipment and capital) as well as all the technical aspects of production (e.g. Vaneties; land preparation; weed disease and insect control; irrigation; fertilizer recommendations; chemical ripening; harvesting and cane quality) with details of choices available. Included with the English manual is the ESA bulletin titled “Introduction to the business of cane growing for the new grower” This bulletin gives an outline of resources, operations and general requirements.
The manuals are available from ESA Technical Services Offices at both Simunye and Big Bend and from the Eswatini Cane Growers Association Offices in Mbabane. Technical Services also publishes quarterly newsletters which provide an update to the manuals. These can be viewed on the ESA website or a hard copy can be obtained at Technical Services.
