Swaziland has three sugar mills with an annual production capacity in excess of 600,000 tons. The industry produces raw, refined and VHP (brown) sugar. Whilst all the mills produce raw sugar, only two of these produce both refined and VHP sugar (Mhlume and Ubombo) whilst one (Simunye) does not produce refined sugar. In 2008/09, sugar production stood at 626 984 tons compared to 631 236 tons in 2007/08. The table below shows the total sugar produced by the three mills, distributed in 2008/09 and 2009/10 (estimates) as follows: | Producer | 2007/08 | 2008/09 | 2009/10 (Estimates) | | Simunye Mill | 244 305 tons | 233 557 tons | 231 17 tons | | Mhlume Mill | 165 311 tons | 183 843 tons | 191 517 tons | | Ubombo Mill | 221 620 tons | 209 584 tons | 213 443 tons | | Total Industry | 631 236 tons | 626 984 tons | 636 134 tons |
